If you have been investigating what can be done to replace a missing tooth or teeth, you probably have come across information about dental implants. Over recent years, dental implants have become one of the most requested procedures available to replace a missing tooth or teeth. If you are thinking that dental implants may be the answer for you, visit our Kutztown cosmetic dentist at our practice, James C. Blankenhorn DMD.
Dr. Blankenhorn has been providing expert dentistry for his patients since 1979. Our entire staff is courteous and friendly, and works to make each patient feel at home and relaxed. Our state-of-the-art technology helps out with many of our procedures including dental implants. Getting a dental implant by our Kutztown cosmetic dentist, is almost like getting a new permanent tooth. Once a dental implant is complete, no one will be able to identify it as anything but a permanent tooth. It is made to perfectly match your adjacent teeth. Additionally, a dental implant functions just like a permanent healthy tooth. It is strong enough to withstand the most vigorous chewing. It also will not interfere at all with your speech as it fits just like your original tooth. You will not even know it is in your mouth. With a great at-home dental cleaning regimen and regular dental cleanings, there is no reason why your implant should not last you for a lifetime.
The dental implant that our Kutztown cosmetic dentist will provide is made up of two sections: there is the titanium root section and the upper porcelain crown section. The titanium root section is first surgically inserted into the jaw bone. This is done with local anesthesia, and you will remain perfectly comfortable during the procedure. (Dr. Blankenhorn will need to determine beforehand whether or not your jaw bone is healthy enough to firmly hold the implant.) Once the implant is inserted, there needs to be a wait time of several months while your jaw bone heals, and the implant fuses to the jaw bone. Once this occurs, the porcelain crown is permanently attached to the implant, and your new implant is complete! If you would like to meet with Dr. Blankenhorn to determine if dental implants will work well for you, contact our practice and make an appointment today.
